Grief and Condolences
In this lesson your students will:
- listen and share ideas about the stages of grieving and what they might involve
- take notes and reflect on emotional responses to grief
- sort condolence phrases into more and less appropriate ones
- listen to advice on supporting someone through grief
- complete and role-play short dialogues using supportive language
- explore and discuss grief in different cultures, including eco-friendly traditions
- reflect on personal beliefs and habits around grief and emotional support
This lesson contains 12 interactive exercises that build awareness and empathy by exploring how people experience and cope with loss in personal and cultural contexts and equip students with sensitive, appropriate language for expressing condolences and supporting others during times of grief.
